Here's what our readers and staff are buzzing about from around the world this week:
Los Angeles, California is a mecca for high-end car enthusiasts and eco-minded drivers alike. This year, the line between the two blur at the  LA Auto Show, taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center Nov. 18-27. More than 1,000 cars are on display, of which more than 70 are considered green vehicles.

Almost every car maker, from  BMW to Kia is showcasing their own version of a ‘green’ car. You’ll find all-electric  vehicleshybrids, and cars that run on hydrogen fuel cell and  natural gas. The number of cars on display that are powered by some form of electricity have grown by 25 percent since last year’s show.

What are the elements that make a motorcycle a motorcycle? Well, to start with you pretty much have to include two wheels, some form of non-human propulsion, braking and steering systems and well… a nice paint job also helps. With his recent Moto Undone  concept, designer  Joey Ruiter seems to be rethinking almost every element of what makes a motorbike a motorbike.

The Moto Undone has two wheels, a motor and brakes, but that seems to be the only concessions Ruiter makes toward the consensus reality we elect to name “motorcycle”. His bike is not shaped like a motorcycle; makes no motorcycle noise; does not have a flashy motorcycle paint and runs not on gasoline, but  electricity.

Airborne Wind Turbine Could Revolutionize Wind Power
Flying a kite – often considered child’s play, but the concept could make wind energy cheaper and more reliable than ever before. Correspondent Josh Zepps met the innovators turning the idea of flying a kite into an airborne wind turbine that’s lighter and more powerful than traditional wind turbines.
If you’ve ever flown a kite, you know the strength and consistency of wind hundreds of feet off the ground. What if that same concept could be applied to harness wind power – could it help solve the intermittency, siting, and cost problems that have put a damper on wind energy?

We are, it seems, tethered to our gizmos. Smart phones, MP3 players, GPS handsets, are now ubiquitous. And why they all have a different application, they all have one thing in common. They all have an insatiable craving for power.

That power has to come from somewhere. For most folks, that’s a simple as plugging a charger into a wall socket. But what if there is no wall socket around? What if you want a  cleaner alternative? What if you just don’t want to pay for the juice? Now, an intrepid tinkerer has crafted a easy to assemble, affordable DIY  solar charger that fits into a standard size briefcase.
