Feature Articles Dark Fiber Member Fatbeam Signs Contracts with Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls School Districts Fatbeam, a Competitive Access Provider delivering broadband access services to customers in the Pacific Northwest, and member of Allied Fiber's Dark Fiber Community, has signed long term agreements with the Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls Idaho School Districts. Under each contract, Fatbeam will be building high capacity fiber optic networks and deliver 2 gigabit broadband services to school district facilities. The combined contracts for the networks average 7.5 years in length and exceed $2M in value, according to company officials. IPC Systems Debuts Connexus, a Financial Extranet Service IPC Systems, a provider of high- and low-touch trading communications solutions, announced that it has launched a new financial extranet service for facilitating trading lifecycle communications - Connexus. Infinera's DTN Platform Enables Midcontinent to Expand Optical Network Footprint Infinera, a provider of digital optical networking systems, announced that Midcontinent Communications has utilized the Infinera's DTN platform to expand its optical network footprint to cover newly acquired territories and the expansion has supposedly added 1000 miles in Minnesota to the existing network. Clearfield's FieldSmart Platform Deployed by WK&T Clearfield, Inc, a specialist in fiber management and connectivity platforms for communications providers, recently announced in a press release that its FieldSmart platform is selected by West Kentucky and Tennessee Telecommunications Cooperative (WK&T). Transtelco Deploys SaaSMaint CMMS / EAM for Better Management and Maintenance of Assets Transtelco, a privately held provider of last mile, voice and colocation solutions over next-generation fiber optics for carrier and enterprise customers, has selected SaaSMaint CMMS / EAM solution. US Signal and Cisco Successfully Complete 100 Gigabit DWDM Trial Cisco and US Signal, one of the leading providers of regional transport, data center and Internet Protocol (IP) services, recently made an announcement that they had successfully completed the initial 100 Gigabit (100G) coherent dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) trial. The basis of this was set on some of the topmost performances of the Cisco ONS 15454 Multiservice Transport Platform (MSTP) system.
