Games continue at 2011 US Youth Soccer ODP Boys Thanksgiving Interregional

Day 3 of 4 complete

FRISCO, Texas (Nov. 27, 2011) - US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) Boys Thanksgiving Interregional continues with the 1997 and 1998 age groups competing at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. GAME SUMMARIES

1997
Region II used a goal in each half to hand the U.S. National Team Blue their first loss of the weekend. Lawrence Mullen put Region II up early with an 8 th minute goal and Ryan Sierakowski tallied the insurance goal in the 61 st as Region II bounced back from an opening loss to Region IV.

The U.S. National Team Red won their third straight, defeating Region III 2-0. Joe Gallardo struck in the 19 th , giving him a goal in each game for the U.S. Red side. Haji Wright doubled the lead in the 28 th as neither team could find the net again.

Region I rebounded from an opening loss to beat Region IV. Region IV took the lead in the 37 th with Ether Bustos’ second goal of the weekend, but Ethan Lochner responded for Region I before Justin Torres also found his second of the week in the 64 th to give Region I a 2-1 win.

1998
Region I and Region II went back and forth before Region I ran away with a 5-2 late in the game. John Leisman put Region II in front in the 14 th minute, but goals from Alexander Cancilla in the 21 st and Aquinas Akinlosotu in the 29 th turned the score in favor of Region I. Coming out of halftime, Antonio Sanchez leveled for Region II, but Daniel Hart netted the winner in the 57 th as Jacob Maddox added two late insurance goals to finish the scoring.

Despite some very entertaining play between Regions III and IV, neither team could find the back of the net in a 0-0 draw.
