Siri Is Now Working on iPhone 4 and iPod Touch


Developed as a personal assistant for Apple’s (News - Alert) operating system iOS, Siri is an application that uses natural language processing to answer questions, make recommendations, and perform actions by delegating requests to an expanding set of web services. It was introduced on the iPhone (News - Alert) 4S, when it was launched a few weeks ago. Consequently, Siri allows iPhone 4S users to use voice to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and more.


Soon after the launch of iPhone 4S, 9to5mac broke the news that developer Steven Troughton-Smith has successfully ported the Siri user-interface and some of the underlying code from the iPhone 4S onto the iPhone 4. Although the port was functional, it was not talking to Apple’s servers.
