OPENING OF THE WEEK

Nine

Why? Two words: Cheese. Bar.

The recently renovated Hotel Breakwater is now home to a restaurant called Nine, whose fusion cuisine spans at least as many geographic influences as the name implies. Meals begin at the regional cheese bar, with other fare including ceviche, Japanese panko-breaded Enoki mushrooms, Maryland crab cakes, black truffle ravioli, and churrasco. The wine selection is equally diverse, while the views of Lummus Park and the beach are likely universally appealing.

STORE OF THE WEEK

Adidas SLVR

Why? It's un-American not to shop on Black Friday.

SLVR, the trendy, futuristic line that falls between the sporty namesake line and Y-3, has been flirting with Miami for a while now. After stints as a shop-in-shop at the Y-3 locations in the Design District and on South Beach, and even at Lincoln Road boutique Base, SLVR is finally getting a home of its own. The new boutique is only the brand's second freestanding store in the U.S. and joins a swanky list of tenants at 1111 Lincoln Road.

RESTAURANT OF THE WEEK

Edge, Steak & Bar

Why? Protein is good for you.

Brickellites have a new meatery as of the recent opening of Edge, Steak & Bar on the seventh floor of the Four Seasons Miami hotel tower. This is where to find steakhouse staples, from a Black Angus filet to a 24oz. bone-in Tomahawk to the signature Edge Burger. But the restaurant has also managed to weave the ever-popular tapas concept into the mix too, offering small plates like heritage pork bellies and stone crab claws.

LAST WEEK'S TOP PICK

The Dutch

Why? It's from the guys behind Locanda Verde.

One might reasonably assume that The Dutch specializes in food from the Netherlands. But its owners say their new restaurant at the W South Beach is so named because "The Dutch sounded like a place we'd like to hangout." Conclusion: no stroopwafels. Happily, that's where the bad news ends. With a kitchen manned by two-time James Beard Award winner Andrew Carmellini, the Miami outpost (the original is in NYC) lives up to the hype. Head here for dishes like deep-fried oyster sandwiches, a raw bar stocked with local classics like stone crab, and sensational seasonal pies.
