7 Ways to Pimp Your iPhone

My fellow WNN contributor Vicki Jacobson is a relative
newcomer to the cult of iPhone, but she makes up for it
with devoted enthusiasm. In this piece, she goes beyond
cases and apps to find to seriously strange iPhone
enhancements. Uh, sorry Steve, I know it was perfect just
out of the box.

Red Cross: Violent Video Games Violate International Law

The Red Cross is shocked--shocked!--to find that violent
video games often depict scenes that are in violation of
international laws. Seriously, guys? Look, I am a big fan
of the Geneva Convention and The Hague has done some
important work, but is Modern Warfare 3 really the place
to spend your limited resources? When there are so many,
you know, actual wars to deal with? Geek.com has more
details.

Review: FlipBoard for iPhone

When FlipBoard launched on the iPad there was nothing else
like it. Now that a host of imitators have sprung up, it is
diversifying and offering an iPhone version, as well. It is
hard to say if FlipBoard's offering is unique enough to make
a lasting impression on users, but at the moment it is a
pretty compelling reading experience. Check out Jeff
Wilson's full review.

Is 'Affordable Ultrabook' an Oxymoron?

Most consumers don't even know what an ultrabook is, but by
this time next year, you can safely assume everyone will.
Right now, PC vendors and Intel are trying to put the
finishing touches on their messaging, but I think it will
boil down to "good, cheap, laptop." Vendors will never use
the word cheap, but as an independent journalist, I can level
with you. So can PCMag's Lead Laptop Analyst Eric Grevstad.
Check out his column.

Face Facts: Facial Recognition Is Insecure, Slow, and a
Wasted Effort

There are three reasons I read ExtremeTech: Ziff Davis owns
it, Sebastian Anthony's cranky screeds are entertaining,
and I learn a new word in almost every post. Well, the word
of the day, kids, is "facialification." Now, Microsoft Word
doesn't recognize it and you better make sure that Safe Search
is turned on before you Google it, but Sebastian seems to be
seriously concerned by it. Give him a shout in the comments
if you agree.
