Converged Network Solutions for Large Enterprises and SMBs

A recent Alcatel-Lucent (News - Alert) posting, Converged Network Solution, highlights the rapid growth and importance of real-time applications that are pushing legacy networks in organizations of all sizes to the limit. For instance, consumers are increasingly acquiring new devices, such as smartphones, IP cameras, smart boards and next-generation IP-phones. Each places increased pressure on an organization’s network for bandwidth and performance as the bring you own device (BYOD) trend are pick up pace. 


However, BYOD increases the security risks for organizations along with making it more difficult for network managers to accurately predict bandwidth consumption and cost. As a result, the standard approach of static provisioning of bandwidth priority becomes ineffective. This demands automatic improvements in application delivery within the network no matter its size or scope. 

A converged network architecture from the ground up is required to effectively meet the demands of new devices, applications and the requirements imposed by the increasing trend of virtualization to support this new environment.
