| | | | | | | | | BURGER SPOT OF THE WEEK Ned's Travel Burger Why? Because everyone needs a travel burger. Food trucks are sprouting up like allegations against presidential candidates, but Ned’s Travel Burger should not be overlooked. It stands out in that it is not a food truck, rather, a fully restored (by the owner) 1946 Spartan Trailer outfitted to serve Ned’s signature rectangular burgers, each one perfectly seasoned and utterly worth every bite. Check the Web site for locations, as they change daily. If you can’t find them around town, catch the trailer posted up at its usual spot at 2010 Cole Street in Birmingham’s Rail District. | | | | | | | SHOP OF THE WEEK 8 Degrees Plato Beer Company Why? Because you need to shop for beerstuffs every now and then. It’s damn near a retail dream come true -- it’s a new store in Ferndale selling a stunning array of Michigan and regional craft beers, and exotic import brews. This charming store also stocks artisan cheese, charcuterie, antique barware, vintage glassware, and an array of other drink-related goodness. It’s a custom-beer-store-meets-flea-market and it just opened on 9 Mile, off of downtown Ferndale. Owners Tim and Brigid are locals, painfully friendly and have the same love for the drink that you do. | | | | | | BAR OF THE WEEK The Butter Run Saloon Why? Because a little casual upscale never hurt anyone. Grissom’s Bar sat at 11 Mile and Harper seemingly forever. So when we saw it boarded up over the summer, we wondered what was happening. Well, we now know that Grissom’s is being re-opened in early 2012 as a new bar called The Butter Run Saloon. Expect a complete do-over on the building’s facade, interior and vibe. The owners anticipate an upscale casual crowd, a lot of martinis and a smart menu. We’re looking forward to the opening. | ADDRESS: | 27626 Harper, St. Clair Shores | | | | | | | | | | | LAST WEEK'S TOP PICK Mayer Hawthorne On Woodbridge Pub Why? Because it's not always a mixology night. In His Words: " You mean besides Players' strip club? Woodbridge Pub on Warren -- in the old, war-torn Woodbridge neighborhood -- is always a good spot. Low maintenace, cheap drinks and great music. Just don't park under the busted street light. " | | | | | | | | | | Copyright 2011 IGN Entertainment, 625 2nd Street, 3rd Floor, San Francisco CA 94107.
