  Hello wonderful members,
Over six months ago we showed Warner Bros. (WB) that the company they use to make Harry Potter chocolate has received an "F" in human rights. We explained to them that there is a reasonable chance the chocolate frogs purchased at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter were made by children who were kidnapped and forced to work as slaves on cocoa plantations. Through emails, letters, and petitions we have told them that this is against the spirit of the books (Hermione would be livid!), against the will of the fandom, and against the fundamental rights of children. After ignoring us for months, they finally replied with an empty email simply stating that their chocolate sourcing is ethical. When I asked for proof that their production line and supplies even match their own ethical sourcing guidelines, they did not reply. I want to believe them and have been incredibly polite, but they continue to deny us any proof. So the Harry Potter Alliance is giving Warner Bros. until midnight on New Year's Eve to show us that they are operating in goodwill. They have two choices: They can show us adequate proof that the cocoa used in Harry Potter chocolate does not come from child slaves or set up a real meeting with us to discuss together how they can make all Harry Potter chocolate Fair Trade. If they refuse, we'll be turning up the heat on this campaign and bringing the fight to their doorsteps.
