RECAP: 2011

Dear Indiana,

Make a donation, get a 2012 calendar

2011 ends in a week and looking back at the year, I can’t help but wonder if all of this happened in just one year! I am also going to let you into a big secret planned for 2012, even before it starts.

This year we asked the government to protect our forests in Central-eastern India from coal mining, [1] our food from genetic modification [2] and our life from the risk of a nuclear disaster. [3] We also asked Bharti Airtel to go green and switch off diesel from its network towers.[4] The work on soil health, under the living soil campaign, made the Planning commission include a recommendation to increase expenditure on ecological fertilisation for the upcoming 12th five year plan.[5]

All this was possible because of the contributions made by individuals like you. Individual contributions help Greenpeace stay independent and challenge the government and corporate heads who hurt the planet. A lot of this work will continue next year and support from you will make it possible yet again.

Can you make a donation and help continue the work to protect our planet?

This time, your donation will also make you eligible to participate in something special in 2012 (you’ll find out more about it soon). You’ll also get a Greenpeace calendar as a thank you for your contribution.

There were many victories for Greenpeace in India and all over the world. Facebook gave a commitment to switch to renewable energy. [6] Mattel, the toy company which manufactures Barbie dolls, agreed to keep rainforest destruction out of its supply chain.[7] Big sportswear and clothing brands like Adidas, Nike, Puma, H&M, C&A and Li Ning, agreed to detox and get rid of hazardous chemicals from their supply chain.[8]

Again, this was made possible by lakhs and lakhs of people who supported these campaigns all over the world. With continuous support from individuals like you, we can look ahead to many more successes in the years to come.

So quick, make a donation, get your calendar and gear up for an exciting 2012.

Thanks a billion!
