As the world returns for the final and shortened trading week of the year we find metals a bit lower in lackluster activity....From Asia to New York many traders have already closed up shop until 2012.....Looking across the Pond we see Gold trading $9.00 lower at $1597.00....Silver is sits at $28.92 off 29 cents.....Palladium is down $12.00 to $656.00.....Platinum is $1430.00 off $2.00.....Volume is very light.....With the Euro-zone news wires quiet the Euro currency sits at $1.3006 up 1/100ths of cent against the Dollar.....Crude oil is quiet as well....Last trade $99.83 up 15 cents.....In stock market activity; Asian markets closed mixed.....Euro-zone equities are up by about .2%.....The Dow is being indicated to open lower by 14 points...Yawn!....This week's economic calendar remains active, but will we have an audience to act on the results?.....This morning the calendar contains the latest Case Shiller 20 City Home Price Index where the estimate calls for a decline of 3% in prices; versus last months decline of 3.6%......Not good....On the other hand; the December reading of U.S. Consumer Confidence is being estimated to show a reading of 58 versus 56....Better....So; mixed data, a quiet Euro-zone news wire, and shrinking trader participation....Double yawn.....In other news of interest; China has just overtaken India as the largest jewelry market in the world.....That's it....I hope you had a great Christmas and Chanukah......
