Couch-munch on the oiled-up, fresh-mozz'd Truffle Daisy, the Polka Dot (Parm, f-mozz, cherry tomatoes, fried sage), and/or the Godfather, loaded with tomato sauce, smoked mozz, caramelized onions, and the subtitle for the 1970 Sly Stallone vehicle The Party at Kitty and Stud's: hot Italian sausage.

Feeding 'horns since Earl won the Heisman, this Dobie Mall mainstay's hand-tossed, NY-style pies and pastas are made from recipes its founder picked up during his childhood in Italy, and served at prices even a dragrat could afford. Eight combos come in under eight bucks, most notably the #1: two slices (from basics to white pies) & a fountain drink for a measly fiver (incl. tax), leaving you plenty of cash to spend at Dobie Theater Powerplay Arcade whatever's still open.

Planted by a Taverna alum at the South Shore Eatery at Riverside and IH-35, this black metal trailer's dishing a lunch/dinner menu of just one item: "Austin's Best BLT", fueled by house-cured bacon (in original or spicy chipotle mesquite), a choice of five mayos (sun-dried tomato to herb/Parm), and toppers from avo to American cheese. If you're some kinda world-beater, they're doing breakfast biscuits and bagels, while on weekends, specials like braised pork belly will transform it into more of a gourmet place to take a Babe to eat pig in the city.

Monkeying through the streets of Austin for the second straight year, the 5K race benefiting the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund sees participants don simian suits and bi-pedal from S 1st and Riverside up Cesar Chavez and back. Post-race is at Fado's, with special Silverback Pale Ales courtesy of Thirsty Planet, which, much like the Planet of the Apes, is actually... Earth!!?!?! No!!!!! You damned dirty brewers!
