Looking across the Pond at late morning European activity we find the precious metals complex trading flat to a shade lower as traders lighten up into the week-end after a week of solid gains....Silver is changing hands at $33.50 off 28 cents.....Gold is $4.00 lower at $1723.00.....Palladium and Platinum remain marginally higher with Palladium up $1.00 at $698.00.....Platinum sits at $1620.00 up $2.00....Metals seem to be consolidating despite new reports of an imminent Greek debt deal....On the other hand currency traders seem to be optimistic with the Euro currency up 36/100ths of a U.S. cent at $1.3140....Over in the energies the price of Oil is up 44 cents at $100.14....Crude traders are also expressing modest optimism regarding Greece, as well as today's pending U.S.. GDP data....In stock market trading Asian issues closed mixed.....Euro-zone markets are lower by .3%......Domestically the Dow looks about 16 points higher after yesterday's final hour loss of 22.....U.S. traders seem to be bit optimistic in anticipation of this morning's economic data....The latest estimates are calling for preliminary 4th Quarter GDP to be up 3.2%; well above the prior 1.8%....Wow!.....Today's other report is the final January reading of the University of Michigan Sentiment Index of Consumer Confidence....Wall Street expects to see a reading of 74.2 versus 74.....Not wow but O.K.........So; with all eyes on the Greek news wires and the pending U.S. GDP report; that's it.......Have a good morning......
