Thursday Morning Silver and Gold Update for 1/26/12.....Peter R.....Southern Trust Metals, Inc.

Good morning Andrew,

Metals gained additional ground in overnight activity as Asian traders reacted to the Fed extension of low interest rates (QE2.5), and to a  sudden willingness on the part of private Greek creditors to accept new sub 4% bonds as part of the government's debt reorganization.....Maybe this time we'll actually get the deal done....Currency markets are taking on a positive tone with the Euro changing hands at $1.3148 up another 43/100ths of U.S. cent.....This morning's positive sentiment is making itself felt it the equities markets as well with Euro-zone issues up a little over 1%.....Crude oil is higher on a combination of the weaker U.S. Dollar and the debt  progress in Greece......Last on Oil $100.60 up $1.20 per barrel......As for the metals, QE2.5 is continuing to have an impact on trader enthusiasm; with the Greek debt breakthrough adding to the morning's sentiment.....Silver is up 35 cents at $33.45.....Gold sits at $1714.00 up $14.00.....Palladium added $9.00 to $705.00.....Platinum tacked on $28.00 to $1603.00 per ounce....Looking at the U.S. stock market we have early indications calling for a 25 point rise in the Dow....Yesterday the average closed with an 81 point advance....Besides the QE 2.5,European news, and another day of corporate earnings, traders will be facing a number of fresh U.S. economic reports this morning....The estimates call for mixed results.....The Initial Weekly Jobless claims are expected to be 375,000 versus last week's 352,000 (not good).....Durable Goods sales are estimated to have grown by 2%; less than November's rise of 3.7%....(also not inspiring).......New Home Sales for December are being called at 321,000 units; up 7,000 from the prior month.....(better).....Leading Economic indicators which attempt to forecast future economic activity are projected to show a rise of .7% versus .5%....(also a shade better)......As I said; mixed results....So; with traders keeping a close eye on the Greek news wires hoping to see a deal get done; that's it.....Have a good morning....
