What You Need to Know About Mountain Lion
If you want a really deep dive into Mountain Lion, you should
read Ed Mendelson's full preview, but if you just want the key
takeaways, this story is for you. Although Mountain Lion doesn't
bring a lot of new architecture changes to the OS, there are a
lot of new features for consumers. For one thing, iCloud's 100
million users are going to find it a lot easier to sync their
media. Find out what else to expect when it ships this summer.

Windows 8 vs. Mountain Lion: Does Microsoft stand a chance?
Apple's new Mountain Lion won't reach consumers for a few
months, but it is already top dog when it comes to mainstream
operating systems. We picked OS X Lion over Windows 7 last year
and it looks like Mountain Lion is going to widen the gap this
summer while Windows 8 sits in beta. ExtremeTech.com's Sebastian
Anthony explains how Apple accomplished this and gauges
Microsoft's chances for a comeback.

10 Must-Have Android Apps
I have been updating this story for a few years now as the app
landscape shifts. With this edition, I had to say goodbye to
Astrid Task Manager and Advanced Task Killer; they just don't
make the cut anymore. The good news is that I have replaced them
with apps that you will use every day and thank me for
recommending. Check out my full list and leave suggestions for
what I may have missed in the comments.

How to Set Up Your Wireless Router for Skype
Skype is a modern marvel of communication, but even diehard
users have to admit the quality can be uneven. Turns out there
is a lot you can do to improve the quality of your Skype calls
by just configuring you router a little differently. PCMag's
router guru, Samara Lynn, will explain how.

NFC case for the iPhone landing shortly... if Apple says OK
Any serious technology expert will tell you that it is just a
matter of time before NFC chips are in every smartphone. NXP
Semiconductors is trying to press the issue by releasing an NFC-
enabled case for the iPhone at Mobile World Congress next week.
With the right app, the case could bring all sorts of near-field
goodness to the iPhone platform. Thing is, I suspect Apple has
its own plans for deploying NFC in its mobile devices, and I
doubt they include this case. Bottom line: MWC may be the only
place these cases are ever seen.

Google Accidentally Tracked Safari Usage without Permission
Once again, a geeky grad student, Jonathan Mayer, has done his
homework and discovered a breach in a major Internet company's
privacy practices. Turns out, Google has been inadvertently
collecting data on Safari users who have opted not to be
tracked. The company has apologized and is fixing the problem,
but it is nice to know that a single hacker can inspire change
on this level. I bet Google hires him.
