New Rumors Say iPad 3 Will Boast Smaller Screen


Few gadgets generate buzz the way the Apple iPhone (News - Alert) and iPad generate buzz. Rumors always seem to be circulating concerning these two devices mainly because Apple usually plays it so close to the vest when it comes to letting details slip. When people want to know about when the next iPad is coming out, they have to find out through dribs and drabs that usually come from companies doing business with Apple (News - Alert). Such were the rumors that Apple might be coming out with the iPad 3 later this year.

While the company has not actually made the announcement, there have been plenty of rumors that seem to hint at a third iteration of one of Apple's most popular devices. The rumors originally had Apple making a major announcement in January, and some rumors even had the computer giant bringing two new iPads last month. January has come and gone and we are none the wiser, but the iPad 3 rumors persist.


The newest rumors coming from component makers in Asia is that Apple is looking at possibly releasing an iPad that has a smaller screen. Officials at various component suppliers who declined to be named say that Apple has shown them diagrams of an iPad device that would sport an 8-inch screen.    The iPad 2 was released last year with a screen size of 9.7-inches. While there were originally rumors that the iPad 3 would have “retina” resolution, these same suppliers say that the iPad 3 screen will have roughly the same kind of resolution as its immediate predecessor...
