German Court Dismisses Both Apple and Samsung Patent Infringement Lawsuits

A German court in Mannheim dismissed Samsung’s (News - Alert) case against Apple regarding patent infringement. At the same time, the court also decided to dismiss Apple’s case against Samsung, which started for the same reason. The two companies have been going head-to-head against each other, each hoping that one can push the other out of the global mobile scene. Both companies have great products to offer, and they believe that’s sufficient justification to start patent infringement cases left and right.


The regional court decided particularly on a case regarding Apple’s (News - Alert) claim against Samsung that it was using its patented slide-to-lock technology on the Galaxy Tab franchise. Samsung made as many as three different infringement claims, all of which were dismissed. Both cases actually composed a miniscule proportion of the amount of patent cases actually going on throughout the world between tablet and smartphone makers. Everyone wants a piece of the multi-billion-dollar pie.


Regarding Samsung’s three patent infringement lawsuits, the Mannheim court has already brought down the gavel on two of the cases, ruling against the company. Still pending though, are another four patent cases by Samsung and many others by Apple. They’re not stopping until one of them falls, it seems.
