Which is a roundabout way of saying that exceedingly few MBAs do what Adam Pervez did. After getting his degree from IE Business School and landing his dream job at Siemens Wind Power, Adam chucked it all for a different sort of happiness. For him, perhaps, a six-figure salary and a position as a cog on some corporate wheel would not have been a happy life, but one of quiet desperation. So he took what he calls the "happiness plunge" and rebranded himself the "happy nomad," traveling around the world helping companies and nonprofits, changing the world one village at a time. Is he happy? Read Alison Damast's Q&A with him and judge for yourself. Keep your credit card handy, though. You may just need to buy a one-way ticket somewhere when you're done.
