LAS VEGAS, Nevada (March 23, 2012) - The US Youth Soccer National League Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 Boys and Girls, and Under-18 Boys resumed league play today at Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex in Las Vegas, alongside the 2012 Player's Showcase. Each age group is represented by four of the League's eight teams per division.

This is the final weekend of National League http://www.idevmail.net/link.aspx?l=30&d=26&mid=698003&m=2168 play in the 2011-2012 season. When standings are finalized on Sunday, March 25, champions from each age group division in the U-15, U-16 and U-17 Boys and Girls will advance to the 2012 US Youth Soccer National Championships http://www.idevmail.net/link.aspx?l=31&d=26&mid=698003&m=2168 Around 600 collegiate coaches are expected to attend National League games this weekend. Coaches cite the competitive level of every game in the National League, as each team must earn their place in the league, as well as seeing players play in meaningful games that test players' psychological skill as well as their technical and tactical abilities in the quest to earn a place in the National Championships.

Three division champions were named today, becoming the first three teams to earn a spot at this summer's National Championships. All three completed their seasons prior to Las Vegas, but needed teams to drop points to ensure a title.

Legends FC of Southern California have four girls' teams competing this weekend in National League play, with all four in contention for a division crown. Under-15 coach Rick Young discussed what the National League, and a chance to earn a spot in the National Championships, means to the club after moving into first place today, defeating Internationals 96 Red (OH-N) 2-0.

"This is what we play for. We have National State Cup, we have Far West Regional League, we have different things going on, but National League is the single most important thing that we prepare for the entire year. So, to come out here and get a result like this with two games remaining, hopefully we can get the job done and try to go win a National title."

Some highlights from today's matches...

Under-15 Girls
Legends FC (CA-S) jumped into the top spot in the Red division today by defeating Internationals 96 Red (OH-N) 2-0 http://www.idevmail.net/link.aspx?l=37&d=26&mid=698003&m=2168 Megan Decker netted the eventual game winner in the 44 th minute and Ally Prisock scored the insurance goal in the 59 th . Legends now need just one win in the final two games to clinch the division, with only PSC Baltimore (MD) able to unseat them.

In one of the most anticipated games of the weekend, Blue division leaders Kings Soccer Academy (OH-S) and Match Fit Chelsea Colchesters (NJ), Region II runners-up and Region I champions respectively, collided with 4-0 records. Match Fit applied the early pressure for the first 10 minutes, but Kings responded with three goals in five minutes en route to a 5-0 http://www.idevmail.net/link.aspx?l=38&d=26&mid=698003&m=2168 victory. Lauren Nemeroff reassumed the scoring lead with goals in the 14 th and 19 th minutes, and Bayley Feist moved into a tie for third with goals in the 15 th and 53 rd . Meghan Martella finished things off with a strike in the 57 th . A Kings victory or a Match Fit loss in the final two games will send Kings to South Carolina.

Under-16 Girls
Three teams are chasing Blue division leaders Grand Rapids Crew Jrs. Gold (MI), and Legends FC 95 (CA-S) squared off with Match Fit Chelsea Beat (NJ) in the race for top spot. Match Fit jumped out to the lead in the 29 th minute from Julia Carr, but Amanda Ball scored her 5 th goal of the season for Legends in the 49 th in a 1-1 http://www.idevmail.net/link.aspx?l=39&d=26&mid=698003&m=2168 stalemate. Both teams are still alive, along with Region IV semifinalist Beach FC 95 White (CA-S), for the title.

Under-17 Girls
Legends Breakaway (CA-S) defeated CUP Crew Jrs. Gold 94/95 (OH-S) 3-0 http://www.idevmail.net/link.aspx?l=40&d=26&mid=698003&m=2168 to eliminate CUP from contention and leave themselves as the only team that can overtake Michigan FC 95 for the championship. After a scoreless first half, Kayla Sincox struck three minutes after the restart and Annie Alvarado and Tanya Samarzich followed up for the win. Breakaway now need at least a win and a draw in their final two games to clinch the division.

Under-15 Boys
The top two teams in the Red division met up on the first day for the advantage in the group. Both at 3-0-1, CUP Crew Jrs. Gold 96/97 (OH-S) raced out of the gate for three first half goals to defeat St. Louis Scott Gallagher Academy (MO) 3-0 http://www.idevmail.net/link.aspx?l=41&d=26&mid=698003&m=2168 CUP's Luke Treadway has asserted his presence in the league, scoring his league leading 7 th and 8 th goals, including at least one in every game of the season, to follow up David Jeffries game winner just five minutes into the match. One victory in their next two games will guarantee CUP the title.

Albion SC White (CA-S) was the only team that could catch 2011 National Championship finalist Chicago Magic, but they needed to be perfect this weekend to do so. MSC Magic Green (MD) spoiled the trip right off the bat, knocking off Albion 3-1 http://www.idevmail.net/link.aspx?l=42&d=26&mid=698003&m=2168 and ensuring Chicago Magic a return trip to Nationals with a National League title. Alla Tesfu put MSC in front in the 25 th minute for a 1-0 lead at the break, but Pablo Pelaez pulled Albion back with a strike in the 58 th . MSC responded with goals in the 63 rd from Nathan Ferdowski and 67 th from Burlew Alessandro to end Albion's hopes.

Under-17 Boys
There was a chance two-time defending National League champion and National Championships finalist Albion SC White (CA-S) could wrap up their third straight league title today, instead, Galaxy 94/95 (IL) now control the fate of the group with a 1-0 http://www.idevmail.net/link.aspx?l=43&d=26&mid=698003&m=2168 win over Albion. Colin Donnally netted the winner in the 56 th minute as Galaxy look to jump from 6 th place in the division to a league title and a chance at the National Championship.

National League action continues Saturday, March 24 at Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex with games at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and noon PST.
