Greetings!

Thank you for joining us for this issue of Operation PAL News, and we hope you like
our new header and logo -- a new look but the same message: support for our healing
heroes. We are so grateful for your continued involvement in this important program.

Last month 'twas the month of green for St. Patrick's Day, and our wounded loved
what you sent. Lots of construction paper shamrocks and beautiful handmade cards
made their way over the miles, all with "the luck of the Irish" enclosed to help
speed recoveries. Thank you so very much.
Spring has sprung, and our early Easter was a blessed one. We hope yours was, too.
The cards you sent for our participants to help them celebrate surely brightened
their day.
Remember, if you know of any severely wounded service members, please "introduce"
Operation PAL to the family, have them contact us and we will put their healing
hero on our list. It does not matter what branch of service their loved one serves
with. We honor their courage and want to wish them a speedy recovery.

Thank you for bringing smiles and support to our brave men and women!

Semper Family,

Barbara Gemmell

Participant Spotlight
Corporal Michael, 3/5

Michael was injured by a blast in Afghanistan in December 2010. He had much shrapnel
damage, but the worst was to one of his arms, including severe bone damage and tissue
loss. He talked to several people who had been faced with the same medical choices,
each of whom had chosen different paths. He made the tough decision to have his
arm amputated because a total reconstruction followed by extensive rehab was not
expected to have a good result.

Where Are They Now?

1st Lt. Patrick "PJ"

We were going to feature PJ as a current participant, but his mom recently let us
know he's ready to move on with his "new normal" and wishes that we send cards to
others more in need. So instead of featuring him as a participant, we'll give you
an early report on how he's coming along "after" OperationPAL.
We did not get pictures of PJ for a long time but had pictures of the family's front
yard. He was the one whose mother requested that neighbors plant flags for his homecoming,
and they brought over 450! Ooh Rah, neighbors!

Mission Statement & Thank You

Operation PAL provides support -- through prayers and letters from the general public
-- to Marines and Corpsmen who have been injured or become ill while serving in
combat zones. This outreach program encourages support of our wounded heroes in
communities throughout the United States.

Thank you so very much for remembering our wounded and ill when you write and pray.
Your kindness is most appreciated!
