Granted, this one is not the adorable girl from The Doctor’s Wife, but the sock monkey version is pretty darn cute anyway. Link Via Geek Crafts |

| Posted: 08 Apr 2012 11:59 PM PDT End up with too many Cadbury Creme Eggs this Easter? Well, there’s more than one way to munch a creme egg. In fact, Cakespy suggests scrambling yours and serving with sliced donut home fries and pound cake toast. Sure it’s a heart attack waiting to happen, but it’s certainly a sweet way to die. |
| Posted: 08 Apr 2012 10:50 PM PDT These pugs are the most thugalicious pups I’ve ever seen and, as a result, they made what is probably the best music video ever. There is a bit of language in the song, but I that can be easily excused when the rappers are this cute. |
| Barbie’s Abandoned Family Members Posted: 08 Apr 2012 08:01 PM PDT There’s Francie, Jazzy, Stacie, Kelly, Krissy, Tutti, and Todd, who all disappeared under mysterious circumstances (or possibly just poor sales). Now that Barbie is running for president, these missing relatives may prove to be skeletons in her closet. Link |
| The Quietest Place on Earth Can Drive You Mad in Less Than an Hour Posted: 08 Apr 2012 05:54 PM PDT
If you think that loud noises drive you mad, try this quiet room for a change. The anechoic chamber at Orfield Laboratories in South Minneapolis, certified as the quietest place on Earth by the Guinness World Records, is so quiet that the longest anyone has survived being in there is just 45 minutes:

It's not easy to impress the human/Vulcan hybrid whose full lineal name is not pronunciable by mere mortals. After all, compared to death and resurrection, not to mention meeting himself in an alternate timeline amongst other adventures, nothing much impressed Spock. If he were to stumble upon this Tumblr blog featuring Spock looking blasé in various scenarios, I think it'd be safe to say that the Starfleet Science Officer/Captain/Ambassador would not be impressed in the least: Link - via Design You Trust |

What do you get when you cross an ice cream machine and beer? Japanese beer brewer Kirin came up with this idea to keep your ice-cold brew stay cold longer: beer with frozen foam.

| Posted: 08 Apr 2012 01:51 PM PDT Marina Galperina of Flavorwire rounded up ten sets of Easter eggs painted in the styles of popular artists, including Roy Lichtenstein, Vincent Van Gogh, Piet Mondrian, Frida Kahlo and others. | Every Jump of the General Lee, Seasons 1-6 Posted: 08 Apr 2012 01:39 PM PDT (Video Link) Put this on a continuous loop, and I could watch it all day. Treva Graham compiled every jump of the General Lee during the first six seasons of The Dukes of Hazzard. How many times should they jump the General Lee in an episode? The correct answer is “more”. | How Las Vegas Almost Built a 1:1 Scale Model of the Enterprise Posted: 08 Apr 2012 01:16 PM PDT According to Danny of the Goddard Group, an entertainment design firm, Las Vegas almost built the greatest architectural marvel in human history. It was 1992, and the Star Trek franchise was thriving. Downtown Las Vegas had lost a lot of business to the Strip. Developers wanted a way to lure tourists back, and they had plenty of space in which to do it. They wanted high class, high rolling customers that would bring a touch of style and panache to downtown. In other words, Trekkies. So Danny proposed building a (non-functional) replica of the Enterprise. Inside the nearly three hundred meter length model would be sets from the ship and shows for visitors. The developers and the mayor were on board with the idea. Alas, some executives at Paramount balked, and the deal fell through. |

Happy Easter, Neatoramanauts - but instead of Easter Bunny, how about if you celebrate with the chocolate Easter Bilby instead? Bilbies, the Australian marsupials have the prerequisite large ears and are no slouch in the cute department. They were almost wiped out when European settlers introduced rabbits to the arid Australian grasslands some 200 years ago. Those aggressive rabbits pushed the bilbies out of their burrows, and they got preyed upon by foxes and feral cats. At one point, there were only about 600 bilbies left in the wild. Recently, the bilbies are making a comeback by invading the rabbit's turf as the symbol of Easter. Ah, the irony: Sarah Zielinski of NPR's The Salt food blog has the story: Link |
