MarineParents.com doesn't go door-to-door

If someone comes to your door asking for donations for MarineParents.com, Inc.,
it is a scam. MarineParent.com never solicits donations by going door-to-door --
ever. We only ask for donations via our websites or through fliers included in
shipping products from the EGA Store.

Recently we heard from a Marine parent who had a person come to her door looking
for donations supposedly to help MarineParents.com. The parent made a donation,
but after checking with our office, the scammed parent had to cancel the donation
and change her account numbers.

Don't fall victim to door-to-door solicitations purporting to be from MarineParents.com.
Protect yourself, and be secure in the knowledge that when you donate your time,
money or goods to MarineParents.com, it's going to help our Marines overseas.

Leon Deraps Memorial Walk on May 5

The Leon Deraps Memorial Scholarship Walk is in honor of Marine LCpl. Leon B. Deraps,
a Jamestown native who was killed May 6, 2006, in Al Anbar province, Iraq. The
money raised goes to provide scholarships for Jamestown High School graduates.
Pre-registration ends today, but registration is open until April 20. The cost is
$10 for children and $25 for adults and it includes a T-shirt. Race-day registration
is $30.

We're so glad you joined us for this issue of The Care Package Project News!
Thank you to all who helped make our pack day on January 21 so successful. Thanks
to all of your hard work, we sent 1,357 Care Packages to our heroes in Afghanistan,
our largest shipment ever! We are already looking forward to spending our next pack
day -- which includes our Girl Scout Cookie shipments -- Saturday, April 21, with
you, so mark your calendars and make plans to attend!

The Marine Corps Marathon to be held October 28 in our nation's capital sold out
its 30,000 spots in less than three hours. But you can still race that day in Washington,

Care packages brighten days for troops in combat zones

Marines in combat zones lack the comfort of home, and they often lack even the
basic necessities. Things as simple as a new toothbrush, deodorant, a meal that
isn't an MRE can make a Marine's day -- heck, maybe his week. And when MarinesParents.com
sends care packages overseas to our Marines in war zones, the items are physical,
tangible proof that folks on the home front care about Marines and respect the

Boy Scout uses art of persuasion
Eagle Scout project brings 275 pounds of care package items

Joseph Gross knew what he wanted to do for his Eagle Scout project, but first he
had to convince his Scout leaders.

After several meetings in which he argued his case, and with assurances from MarineParents.com
that his project was legitimate - and needed - Joseph got the go-ahead to organize
and carry out a care package drive to benefit Marines.

"I had to show them it wasn't just a fundraiser," said Joseph, a member of Troop
1030 from Edwardsville, Illinois.

Marine Week gives up-close look
Military equipment, demonstrations coming to Cleveland
Q: Look, up in the sky! It's a helicopter! It's a plane!

A: It's ... both?

At this year's fourth-annual Marine Week, you'll get a chance to see and climb aboard
the military vehicle that is both helicopter and airplane, the Marines' MV-22 Osprey.

Marine week kicks off June 11 and runs through June 17 in Cleveland, Ohio -- also
home to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The seven-day event celebrates community,
country and Corps, and it is free and open to the public.
