Barque
Clothing line with UT roots
Available at Stag: 1423 S Congress Ave; South Austin; 512.373.7824
Proclaiming outerwear to be the "bark of humanity" -- and not just because the more you bite, the bigger size you need -- Barque is a crisp, casual clothing brand created by a UT architecture grad who sharpened his design skills at Parsons (and companies like Cole Haan) before earning a business degree in France in order to handle every part of his brand himself.
The short-sleeve shirts scream Summer like a broken window unit, with heat-dissipating, paper-thin cotton construction in fine neutral gray stripes or dulled baby blue checks, as well as a bright blue Henley which'll soon make a solid addition to your Dirty Laundry.
For semi-formal occasions, slide on their houndstooth-backed striped denim vest, which pairs nicely with their cotton, sparsely anchor-patterned unconstructed blazer, reconstructed Blazers being difficult to wear due to Greg Oden weighing like 500lbs. And Brandon Roy is probably still more than you can carry.
For your lower half, they're rocking more houndstoothage in the form of thin cotton shorts, as well as lightweight slim fit jeans in gray stripes best described as "barely there", much like your circa-UT-years face after taking so many bites.
Oh you wanted a pearl snap? They've got those too. See Stag's full selection at their new online shop.
