European stock markets dropped sharply in overnight trading, with investors selling banks and resource stocks, as the Greek political crisis showed no signs of abating over the weekend.....The Greek government continues to be unable to get a coalition together in an effort to push through the sorely needed austerity implementations ....This is causing world wide worries about the future of the Euro-zone....Meanwhile, European stocks are down by more than 2%.....The Euro currency is lower by 47/100ths of U.S. cent at $1.2874....
Commodities are weaker on the worries......Oil is $94.19 down another $1.94 per barrel.....Metals are following suit with Silver down 52 cents at $28.46.....Gold sits at $1562.00 off $22.00 per ounce......Palladium is lower by $5.00 to $599.00.....Platinum is $1454.00 off $17.00......
Looking at New York we find Dow futures indicating a 98 point lower open in face of the overseas sentiment....
I would not be too surprised to hear some soothing words come out from the European Central Bank in short order to help stem the selling pressure.....
In other related matters; The German government is trying to downplay expectations for the closely-watched first meeting of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President elect Francois Hollande scheduled for tomorrow......That's it......
