| Snack On This Stock
One of the primary considerations when investing in early stage companies, and particularly penny stocks, is how one rates management. In fact, an argument can be made that above all, an investment in a specific company is really a bet on management. Many CEOs in this space are serial entrepreneurs, which usually means they've had a mixed bag of successes and failures. Hopefully, the successes outweigh the failures and maybe there's a big hit somewhere in the mix.

Five Star Rating
About 80 years ago, the Michelin brothers of France designed what is now known as the Michelin system that uses stars to classify or rate the quality of restaurants. Today, this clever yet simplistic system is now used by rating agencies, critics, guides, and everyday people to rate hotels, tourism venues, and pretty much anything related to entertainment or even services.
In fact, when I worked for Piper Jaffray - which was owned by U.S. Bancorp (NYSE: USB) at the time - the slogan of the bank was "Five Star Service Guarantee," or something to that effect. Even American Airlines has adopted a variation of the slogan. The bottom line is that the public associates five stars with the highest quality.
I am sure the founders of Five Star Quality Care, Inc. (NYSE: FVE - $3.41) had that in mind when they started the company in 2000.
