The most important gold story of the next 10 years?

Investment U Daily

Dear Investment U Reader,

Yesterday, our top metals researcher, Matthew Carr, talked about gold stocks.

Historically, gold stocks follow spot gold... but in exaggerated patterns. When gold goes up... gold stocks go way up. When gold goes down... gold stocks go way down.

But that hasn't happened in recent years. Gold stocks have lagged far behind bullion.

Year to date, for example, the bullion fund SPDR Gold Trust (NYSE: GLD) has climbed about 30%. Meanwhile, the gold-stock fund Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE: GDX) has climbed just 7%.

However, according to more recent data, the trend may be reversing.

Over the past 90 days, GLD has climbed an impressive 22% - but GDX has done even better, gaining 25%. Over the past 30 days, stocks have outpaced bullion, 11% to 6%.

Indeed, if history is any indicator, this could be the turning point. And this could be the perfect time to add gold stocks to your portfolio.

Which brings me to an email I received this morning from my friend and colleague, Jeff Yastine...

According to Jeff, a top investment researcher for a global publishing concern based in Baltimore, there's an unusual gold-mining company out there. It's doing something no one has ever done before.

The company is making a killing by mining gold... offshore. This could be the single most important gold story of the next 10 years.

Going offshore to find huge resource deposits is nothing new, actually. Offshore drilling has revolutionized the oil business over the past few decades. It has also generated countless billions for investors.

Finally, gold mining has begun moving offshore, as well. And for the companies at the vanguard of this trend, the gains could be enormous.

As Jeff pointed out in our talk, the latest geological estimates show that more gold lies at the bottom of the world's oceans than anywhere else.

A single deep-sea deposit can hold from five to 10 million tons of ore... worth billions. And surveys show hundreds of millions of tons of this ore lying on the ocean floor. (No land-based gold mine can compare.)

The most amazing thing: One company is already tapping into this mother lode. It's bringing the first several tons to market, as we speak.

Jeff has created a documentary-style presentation showing all the details of this remarkable opportunity.

You'll at least want to watch the first few minutes. They detail the heart-pounding moment when the company found its first big discovery, many leagues under the sea.

Just go here for the details.

Good investing,
