Swinging Made Fun

The Therapy Net Swing is the solution to calming a restless child. This net swing is a great therapy tool that stretches to fit any child or adult. It can be used in a prone position like a hammock or a sitting position like a typical swing. Kids Therapy Net Swingwill feel safe and secure while stimulating their vestibular system.

Enveloping a child's whole body as they swing back and forth, the movement stimulates the vestibular system, linear movement and also provides ample proprioception (pressure to the joints) so it is calming and comforting for kids who seek that type of pressure. Many kids love to relax in the net swing but it is also a good place for them to read a book or do homework with clipboard or hard surface on their lap.

Check out the Therapy Net Swing for more information.

Activity: Paint with Ice

Need something to do on a hot summer day? Cool off with chilly ice paint!

Paint With IceMaterials:
  • Liquid tempera paint
  • Ice cube tray
  • Craft sticks
  • Paper
  • Plastic Wrap (optional)
Pour the paint into the ice cube tray. Let the child count out how many cubes of each color they want.

When she's done filling up the tray, have her put a craft stick into the middle of each paint cube. The sticks should be able to stand up on their own, but if they won't stay up, try covering the tray in plastic wrap. Then poke the sticks through the wrap for extra stability.

Place the ice cube tray in the freezer, and let it sit until the paint is frozen solid. When the paint cubes are frozen, it's time to paint!

Ask your child to choose a color, and help her pop the chosen paint cube out of the tray. They can hold the craft stick and swirl the frozen paint cube over paper. As it melts, it'll leave a lovely trail of paint. Encourage her to use several different cubes to create her masterpiece.
