Our Live at Sunset concert series is back in action this Friday. Annual favorite Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas will have you up and dancing. We hope to see you at the beautiful Ecotarium for an evening of great fun.

WICN welcomes the return of Piano Jazz Rising Stars to our lineup on Wednesdays at 6pm. Tune in and experience some incredible young talent! Speaking of talent, the late bassist, composer and band leader Charles Mingus is our featured artist of the month. Enjoy his music all month long on WICN!

Newport Folk Festival 2012 
Now in its 53rd year, the Newport Folk Festival at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island will feature a vibrant array of folk performers. Included in the all-star lineup are such legends as Arlo Guthrie (with The Guthrie Family Reunion) and newer folk superstars like Dawes, Alabama Shakes, Of Monsters and Men, and The Head & The Heart.  
The folk music festivities will run July 28-29 with a special headlining performance July 27 by folk-rock stars Wilco.  For tickets to this special Friday night event (with support from Blitzen Trapper and Megafaun), see NewportFolkFest.net.

Jazz at Lincoln Center: An Evening with Roy Haynes
Monday, July 9, 6PM  

At the age of 85, drummer Roy Haynes hasn't lost any of his percussive force. He made his marks ---playing with Charlie Parker, Pat Metheny, the Allman Brothers and even as DJ on the video game Grand Theft Auto IV. Now Haynes brings his vibrant Fountain of Youth Band to Rose Theater.

JazzSet: Gretchen Parlato, Conrad Herwig and the Latin Side of Herbie Hancock at the Newport Jazz Festival

Friday, July 13, 6PM

JazzSet's Dee Dee Bridgewater was a judge when Parlato won the Thelonious Monk Vocal Competition. After touring Europe this month, Gretchen returns to Newport in August. Trombonist Conrad Herwig teaches at Rutgers University, plays with the Mingus Big Band and salsa great Eddie Palmieri, and leads this Latin Side All-Star Band.

Live at Sunset: Nathan and the Zydeco Cha-Chas
This Friday, July 13, Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas return to the Ecotarium and fill the air with their fast and furious Cajun rhythms.  Tickets and table seating may be purchased up to 4 p.m. on the Thursday before the show by calling

One of the most important figures in twentieth century American music, Charles Mingus was a virtuoso bass player and accomplished bandleader and composer.
