| | | Why You should Read Filings
I have a daily ritual that I perform each morning as I get ready for the market day. This ritual dates back about 15 years when I decided that I had to be on top of everything as early as possible. It may not surprise you to hear that I routinely devour news and information online (and in paper form) from over a dozen sources before the market opens. This is on top of the information I digest over the course of the day and late at night to prepare for the next day.
I know many of you do much of the same. The way people write today (myself included), grammar went out the window, as did the use of multi-syllabic words and anything that might push the envelope beyond a 5th grade reading level.

It's Not a Marathon, It's a Sprint
In 2012, we are tethered to our mobile devices even more than our computers. As the proliferation of smartphones continues and features to these phones evolve, our reliance on larger computing and communication devices is reduced. The selection of our phones is one based upon personal preference and cost, while our choice of service provider seems to remain a function of matching cost, service, features, and other factors.
As consumers, we do not realize (nor do we care) how incredibly costly it is to build, maintain, and operate mobile wireless networks and the devices used across them. Given the ever-evolving technology shifts, networks can also become service and traffic nightmares at best and obsolete at worst if not configured properly. Nonetheless, these "back-end" challenges, coupled with meeting the "front-end" consumer demand with the right mobile devices, are difficult for all of the mobile service providers. Thus, they don't always make good investments.
