Agi Miagi
Corrugated illumination
Available at TreeHouse: 4477 S Lamar Blvd; South Austin; 512.861.0712
Fill your living room with cardboard in a way that doesn't scream "I've been evicted and don't have a living room!" with Agi Miagi, a project by an architect-in-training at the firm behind 263 Provisions, who's laser-cutting light fixtures that define "elegantly simple" even better than Forrest Gump's wedding suit.
Available at TreeHouse, her first line -- the Corrugated Collection -- focuses on three different basic styles of bulbous, hanging pendant cardboard lights, as well as plastic versions that mimic the texture of everyone's favorite beige box (that's slang for old computers, not a really boring vagina) while adding durability, an array of different colors, and bases for standing and table versions.
Since there're tons of people out there who would love to use a fricken laser cutter, Agi also collabs with companies like Thoughtbarn under the moniker BBIITT to create housewares ranging from furniture, to cork coasters, to knife blocks, which you'll have to perfect to ward off all the guys in the alley trying to steal your house.
Curious how much these cost? Find out at AgiMiagi.com.
