Named after one of the owner's grandmothers -- who schooled him in the ways of soul food -- Johnnye's comes from the couple behind Tamale Molly, and specializes in fried chicken and steak fingers with comforting sides like fresh greens and crispy'd pickles. Because they're not going to chicken out on the most important fast-food industry fight since... ever, they're also doing up a fried bird sandwich dubbed the Gay Fil-A, with a percentage of proceeds going towards GLAAD.

Here's Another Johnny!: Johnny T's BBQ

This trailer version of the Round Rock favorite (and Texas Monthly 'Q lister) carries its West Texan founder's native brisket, and indulges his love of Carolina and Memphis by way of vinegar and mustard-based sauces, not to mention a bit of pork-pulling, which used to be all there was to do in Round Rock.

Blow It: The Wet Whistle

Taking over the concrete shell of the blighted MLK Brite Mart, the owner of Wet Whistle has re-created the space as a lively neighborhood market, decked with old concert flyers and stocking everything from fresh Johnson's Backyard Garden produce, to pastries and espresso, all available via a bike-thru window. They'll also deliver kegs, unless you wanna try to bike yours home, in which case, better lay off those pastries.

Chow Down: Fuzzy's Taco Shop

The DFW version of Torchy's has finally arrived in Austin, taking over the Arpeggio Grill spot on the Drag to peddle Baja-style tacos topped with feta, cilantro & garlic sauce, jumbo burritos filled with everything from tempura shrimp to grilled pork, and protein-packed Big Salads, so healthy you'll instantly grow a foot taller, but sadly retain the mind of a not-particularly-cool 10yr-old.
You should really hit their website for some pretty cool blues music and pictures of people wearing Fuzzy's shirts everywhere from Cairo to... a Crayola factory just outside Dallas!
