Jack Mac's Swill & Grill
An insane Texas pub on Preston & Bush

After selling his stakes in downtown's Iron Cactus and Press Box, Jack MacDonald headed to Cambridge for a year, where, after learning he didn't have to chug every time someone yelled "boat race!", he fell in love with pub culture. Still in love with Texas culture too, upon returning he converted the old Tiramisu into a wood-lined, chalkboard-backed neighborhood haunt that takes the English pub vibe and stuffs it full of Lone Star fat-awesomeness. So, go for the:

Badass Pizzas: The Pizza & Gravy is topped with jalapeno cream gravy, mozz, sausage, and crumbled buttermilk & ricotta biscuits. The Thanksgiving? Turkey, potatoes, mozz & cran relish. Oh, and then there's the Ron Swanson, with pepperoni/sausage/ham/chorizo, though Jack claims there's "no truth to the rumors that it's sponsored by pharmaceutical companies specializing in blood thinners and stent manufacturers -- though they've been known to mention it at junkets."

Sandwiches. Burgers. Mutants: Start off with the mini-Philly, a Verne Troyer-sized trio of the Brotherly Lovin' classic, move up to a goat cheese-topped lamb burger, then go full-on cardiac with The Mexican (see video above): a brisket/chuck patty topped grilled jalapenos & onions, and two cheese enchiladas. Muy Bueno, two times!

Cold All-Texas Beers: Literally every single tap is in-state, from Peticolas' Velvet Hammer and Great Scot!, to Real Ale's Fireman's #4, to DEBC's Farmhouse Wit and brand-new Wealth & Taste -- which you probably have if you realize boat races actually involve boats.


Feast your eyes on this menu. Then feast your stomach on it.
