Derby Day: The Portland Adult Soapbox Derby
Celebrating Ben Franklin's invention of gravity for the 15th straight year, the PDX Adult Soapbox Derby will see hundreds of beer-shotgunning yahoos flock to Mt. Tabor to watch homemade cars -- some aerodynamically constructed to slice through the air, others set up to poison it from mobile karaoke stages -- rocket down the hill, often to the finish line, but more often into guardrails.
