The Playbook
Sweet Beer, Sweet Art, and a Sweet Sick Party
Can't Get Enough Of: Reuben's Brews
1406 NW 53rd St, Ste 1A; Ballard
Opened in a converted warehouse by a 2012 National Homebrew Competition award winner, this Kickstarter-funded taproom is serving up small-batch suds like a Roasted Rye IPA that started as a regular IPA but then got sexy with some chocolate... & rye, and the British-style Old Ale aged in port-infused oak, all of which are posted on a stat board listing things like price, ABV, IBU, and OG, which is the likely culprit if IBU ends up in the ICU. OMG.
If you want to see all their suds, or cute pictures of the baby this place is named after, hit the website

Celebrate: Julia Child's Birthday at RN74
1433 4th Ave; Downtown; 206.456.7474
Your girl's favorite chef would have turned what Betty White was in 1944 (100) next week, and, to celebrate, restos across the country are throwing down with special menus/events, including that fancy combo of numbers and letters RN74. All month long, they're serving up a tasting menu that's expertly paired with French vinos, and includes things like ratatouille & grilled lamb chops, plus a Penn Cove mussel bouillabaisse that you wouldn't usually order in, like, 100 years.
Make a reservation to try this five-courser on Julia's actual birthday, the 15th, and they'll enter you to win some sweet priz... err, one of her cookbooks

These Aren't Muppets: Little Big Deal
Demented Tacoma-based puppeteer Jeremy Gregory has two names that kinda rhyme! spent the last eight months capturing his gritty pose-able characters (each with their own backstory) in a stop-motion flick called Welcome to the Neighborhood, in which a skater named Jimi hangs with the wrong crowd. Starting Friday, the Bherd gallery will be displaying several of JG's hand-crafted creations, and showing the film, but don't worry, it'll be on a continuous loop so you can still see Jimi if you get stuck in Crosstown Traffic.
For some puppet pics, and even a mini stop-motion movie, hit the Fbook event page

Get Down At The: South Lake Union Block Party
At SLU Discovery Center: 101 Westlake Ave N; South Lake Union; 206.342.5900
The only thing better than a house party is... House Party 2, obviously -- it's a pajama jammy jam! A close second, however, is a block party like the one going down in SLU, where there'll be a shton of eats from the 'hoods' best restos/food trucks, a beer garden, spots like Brave Horse Tavern & Lunchbox Lab competing to make the best burger, and an outdoor screening of House Party 4 Dazed & Confused.
There's wayyyy too much going down to list it all, so hit the website

Wear Some: J. Shoes
Our bros at JT have classic Oxfords in new colorways from the Brit brand known for making kicks with "modern design, traditional craftsmanship & independent style" (codependent style being a habit they already kicked).
JackThreads has discovered the one thing the Brits are good at besides whatever the heck the heptathlon is, apparently
