You've done your duty -- and then some -- and now you're returning to life before
the military, to the life of a civilian. It sounds so simple to those on the outside,
to those who haven't been in your shoes -- to those who haven't been in combat.
Sounding simple and being simple are worlds apart, however, and even though your
family and friends support you any way they can, they're not professionals.
Fortunately, there is professional help.
Bridget Cantrell, PhD., will be participating in a Marine Parents' online discussion
Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 8 p.m. Central Time in the Marine Parents chat room.
(Other times zones: 9 p.m. Eastern, 7 p.m. Mountain and 6 p.m. Pacific.)
Tonight's chat is your opportunity to talk with a professional in the field of warrior
transitioning, combat operational stress (COS), combat recovery and post-traumatic
stress disorder (PTSD) in an anonymous online forum. The environment is warm and
welcoming, and the discussions are on a personal level. Please join us to have
your questions answered and concerns addressed.
Also, please forward this email to people who could benefit from the discussions
-- especially if they don't currently receive our Marine Parents newsletters. Your
participation could make a difference in the life of someone you love.

Retired Marine battling cancer
Diagnosis brings financial burden for family
Mike Emmons was recently diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme - Stage 4 Brain
Cancer. He has already undergone surgery to remove the tumor and is learning about
and choosing a treatment plan best suited for him.
Mike is a retired Marine veteran with more than 20 years of service to our country.
He and his wife, Shauna, live in Virginia with their three children ages 12, 11
and 3. To relieve some of the financial burden, the family is trying to raise
$10,000 by October 12, 2012.
