Join us for excerpts of an important discussion with Deepak Chopra, John Replogle, CEO, Seventh Generation and Jeanne Rizzo, CEO the Breast Cancer Fund around removing toxins, in particular, petrochemicals, from our everyday lives. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that 22 million school days are lost annually due to the common cold, with the average child contracting 6.5 colds a year. To help reduce those numbers keep these tips in mind. | | | | Keeping baby safe is a year-round responsibility. But each September, the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) gives it extra attention. This year, JPMA is helping educate parents and caregivers on the importance of choosing second-hand, hand-me-down, and heirloom baby gear with safety in mind. | | | | Looking for a fun way to rally your friends around issues they care about deeply while learning how to protect your children from the potentially harmful effects of toxic chemicals in every day products? The crunchy, mildly sweet Red Delicious accounts for 48 percent of apples exported outside the U.S. We think you'll love this recipe for apple strudel. | | | | I am always amazed at the number of families within close proximity to schools who still opt to drive the short distance to drop their kids off. Getting to school has an enormous impact on our environment as well as our health. Here are a few ways to work health, cost, and environmentally friendly options into your getting to school routine. | | | | Making the switch to stainless steel and glass containers is a huge step towards helping your family live a toxin-free life, but it doesn't stop there. Have you ever stopped to think about the products we use to get our containers sparkling clean? As we head back to school each September, I make sure the following on are my shopping list. | | | | Do you know what's really in your spray cleaner? See what happens when Seventh Generations takes on the competition. | | | | Our Consumer Insights Department shares this story that arrived via email: Just wanted to thank you for your great product. Believe it or not, my cat DROOLED all over my suede couch cushions, and your dish soap was the only thing I could trust to get the stain out without leaving a residue! I mixed a little bit of it with water and the cushions look good as new. I had complete confidence that your soap wouldn't leave a dark mark because of the natural formula! Thanks Seventh Generation. | | | | Nation member greenguy recognizes the irony in our story on coastal runoff: I always sadly laugh at the Dawn commercials which show how they're helping to clean up coastal animals affected by oil spills, or what would be in this case runoff from local fisheries. I laugh because I know that if we all used vegetable and plant based soaps like the ones by Seventh Generation we could save thousands of barrels of oil per year and perhaps some of these oil spills would be avoided because we lowered the demand for oil. Cleaning up animals with products made from the stuff you have to clean off them really doesn't make any sense to me, does it make any sense to you? | | | | Seems our Fresh Citrus Natural Hand Wash is a big hit with hard-working ARAbbott: After years of soap provided at work that dried my hands out at work and exposed me to freaky chemicals, I'm sure, I started buying this soap and putting it in the bathroom. Boy did it go quickly! Guess I'm not the only one that thinks about that stuff. Thanks for the freaky free, good smelling, non-drying hand soap! | | | | Fan Aimee writes: For the first time in too many years, I can use cleaning products, laundry detergent, etc. I had to stop cleaning and/or laundry, dishwasher stuff, because the synthetic fragrances gave me an asthma attack AND an allergic reaction. These (Seventh Generation) products work, and don't make me sick! I also love how they list all the ingredients-some stuff I'm more sensitive to than others. I've tried other 'natural' or 'unscented' brands, but this is the only one which lists ingredients and truly doesn't smell like chemicals, etc. The big brand names try to imitate-but they don't get it. 98% natural isn't enough! :) | | |
