In Ping's place, Apple is integrating Facebook features into iTunes, giving users the opportunity to "like" or "share" any item in its online store. "It's an admission that Apple hasn't done particularly well on the social side of things -- but that it needs the help, primarily to flog iThings," Anna Leach writes. The best bet is always to focus simply on creating interesting, arresting content that will catch people's attention and get them talking. "It's about an ongoing conversation. ... There's a dialogue, and consumers are going to let you know when something isn't working," Marquardt says. Advertising Age (tiered subscription model) (9/13) - Google brings home the Bacon
Google has baked the party game "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" into its search results, allowing users to check film stars' "Bacon number" with a simple search.
