Hello everyone,
The most recent blog post was about how to value premium domain names. You can find it here:
http://symbolics.com/premium-domain-names-what-makes-a-domain-name-valuable/
As promised, the newsletter group will receive 4 additional things to consider, when trying to determine if a domain name is a premium domain name. The first 8 insights are in the link above and the additional four are below. Please read the article first and then these last 4 will make more sense:
9. Expensive price per click bids
If advertisers are paying high rates for pay per click advertising, then the exact-match domain for that specific category will be a valuable premium domain. Example: Advertisers pay a lot per click for searches related to: Loans, Insurance, Mortgages, Treatment, Degrees, School etc. So names like OnlineDegrees.com, Treatments.com, OnlineSchool.com, MortgageRates.com will all be valuable.
10. How large is the overall industry?
Computers, huge industry. Throw pillows, smaller. If the industry is large and growing, then that's a solid name to buy. Some industries are on the decline (due to changing technology for example) and the domains may be losing value. Example: CameraPhones.com - at one time, this name would have been very valuable, but this term "camera phone" isn't really said anymore. This also rolls into to the Google trends tool as well (mentioned in the article).
11. No hyphens
In browsing the list of all time domain sales, I can't find one with a hyphen in it (names over $200,000). While Computer-Repair.com may sound like the perfect name, it has a fraction of the value of ComputerRepair.com.
12. Valuable leads
I am going to do a post on lead generation basics soon. If a domain name matches an industry where the vendors pay high $ for leads, then that's a great name. Similar to high PPC bids, lead generation prices can be a valuable test of domain value.
As always, I want to give you extra information that I don't share on my blog.
