But a glance at the ingredient list (or the price) usually keeps me from buying. Lynne passed along a pointer to Mix It Up, a blog full of homemade cooking mixes -- recipes that are easy to put together with (mostly) natural ingredients. I find it strangely refreshing to explore a food blog that lacks design polish and professional-looking photography. Just simple recipes and simple directions. All you need for a good meal. Plus this quote from the Chana Masala Mix recipe: Chick peas bridge the gap between vegetarians and meat eaters. They are not gross and slimy like tofu and they are not cute and furry like cows. I've also been eyeing the Make-A-Mix cookbook for some time. Has anyone tried it?
