We Need a Science Champ at the EPA Dear UCS supporter,
The Senate will soon vote on the nomination of Gina McCarthy to lead the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the agency responsible for setting standards under our nation's environmental laws that protect our health and climate. As we face ever-greater threats from global warming and air pollution, the EPA needs a strong leader who will act on the best available science.
From her work on the Northeast's Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) to her role in developing historic clean car standards, Gina McCarthy has demonstrated her dedication to using the best available science to inform decisions on critical public health and environmental issues. If confirmed, she will continue the EPA's proud history of science-based decision making and transparency.
