Hey Guitarist,

Let's talk about speed picking.

Seems like every guitarist and their dog
wants to play some incredibly fast picking licks.

And why shouldn't they? lol... (me too)

Although I'm all about the feel, sometimes it's
really satisfying to just being able to rip.

Some guitarists use their wrist to get the speed,
and others use their elbow to move the arm.

Some guitarists will use what's called a guide
finger, which means putting your pinky of the picking
hand onto the body of the guitar while you are picking.

I've seen Yngwie do that.

However, I've seen loads of other shredders NOT do that.

With so many different techniques and approaches to the
guitar, its no wonder that there's so much confusion
out there, and its maybe why your chops aren't
as good as you'd like.

The most important thing is to use a technique that
works for you and stick with it.
