| | | | | | | | | | | | The Royalty Program That Was Closed Is Now Open In 2002, the royalty "paycheck program" that once paid out $50 for every $1 invested... decided to shut the door to new "members." In 2013, a new door has opened... and it just got easier than ever to potentially "make money while you sleep"... But there's no telling when it could close again. | | | | | | | | | | | Peter Coyne, calling out the tax man while the world's too distracted to notice...
 | | Peter Coyne | With Syria, Fed tapering and the debt ceiling vying for headline space, everyone has forgotten about the IRS. But they haven't gone away… In fact, they're stepping on the same rakes.
Remember when news broke about the IRS spending $60,000 to create a Star Trek and Gilligan's Island training videos?
Your tax dollars at work... Well, the latest video in the training series was released to the House Ways and Means Committee yesterday. This time, it was a spoof of Donald Trump's reality show, The Apprentice. The total price tag was $10,000.
$10,000 down the toilet: They spent it all on the wig... Keep in mind these videos are the IRS' idea of saving money. After audits showed the tax agency spent $49 million in two years on employee conferences, the agency stopped sending as many employees. As a substitute, they decided to make these videos. Because, you know, if you cut spending, it's got to be replaced by something.
But here are the best parts: First, the Apprentice parody was never actually used for training. The conference it was going to be used at was canceled. And second, despite someone being "fired" by the fake Donald Trump in the video… no one at the IRS has actually been fired for any of this.
It never gets old…
