Can WebRTC Change the Conference Business? - WebRTC World

Latest Featured Articles

There is nothing like face-to-face conferences has been the adage for the conference business for years, keeping many in business even as with each passing year the Internet makes communication ever more virtual. Through those years I have seen instant messaging used at conferences as a kind of sarcastic backchannel, managed to video conference speakers iced into Dallas into a Miami event, and used LiveStream to broadcast show happenings. And our friends at IMTC have used Skype and Twitter to take questions from the audience.
The first thing that impressed me was that both WebRTC and the entire ecosystem are maturing rapidly. While 2012 and much of 2013 were spent talking about the potential of WebRTC, in Santa Clara the real beginnings of transformation were apparent. Across the event we saw real applications and integrations to existing applications that showed that the WebRTC promise is coming to fruition.
WebRTC, the HTML5-based standard for facilitating real-time, browser-based video communications, aims to create a world where nearly all Web-connected devices - phones, TVs and computers - can communicate with each other on a common platform. While this goal hasn't quite been achieved yet, much progress has been made.
You may have heard of PubNub for its WebRTC functionality, open-source template or Real-Time Network, which powers thousands of apps and streams more than three million messages a second to more than 100 million devices a month. However, the company understands the demand for the power of the real-time network goes beyond just app development and WebRTC growth. Today, the company announced that it is releasing a Bitcoin Exchange Solution Kit to enable Bitcoin exchanges to add real-time trading, pricing and collaborative features on their sites.
