In 10 Days You May be Feeling This Winter Wallop … By Chris Orr, Editor of Weather Trader Dear Sovereign Investor, With the holiday season underway, retailers, insurance companies and energy providers (among others) are intently focused on weather forecasts. Why? It all boils down to the bottom line. All it takes is a bitter cold spell or a couple of nasty blizzards to seriously crimp retail traffic, increase property damage claims and cause a spike in fuel demand. With that in mind, consider this a warning to businesses in the Northeast: In just 10 days' time, you'll be experiencing a winter wallop that the National Weather Service doesn't see coming … The Sigma Secret is Out…But Only Until 11:59PM EST Tonight Scientists have used this secret for 168 years. Nobody thought this could be used to make money… until a man in Louisiana "cracked the code" on how to use it in the financial markets… with incredible success. For example, Louis Sanchez says: "I made $57,000. I'm very happy." And I heard a guy in Miami did well enough to turn $5,000 into $130,000… all thanks to this secret. Tonight at 11:59PM EST… is your last chance to gain access to this secret strategy. To find out all the details, click here. Here's What I Know … I'm a certified consulting meteorologist – there are less than 300 of us in the world – and I've spent the last 30 years specializing in forecasting the weather for commodity traders, including some prestigious hedge funds. What most people don't realize is that hedge funds and sophisticated investors spend millions of dollars researching weather patterns to determine where and when to invest. More recently, I've turned my attention to helping individual investors make money from my forecasts … which can sometimes diverge from those of mainstream outlets like the National Weather Service. A number of weeks ago, I forecast that the U.S. would experience a colder winter than last year … and the cooler than normal temps are already upon us. Sub-zero temperatures spread across the Northern Plains this week and California's Central Valley is bracing for a hard freeze. The next major development will be in the Northeast, with significant cold weather and storms on tap … but you wouldn't know that from the National Weather Service's forecast. It's predicting "equal chances" of cold, warm or normal temperatures, and wet, dry or normal weather for the Northeast. Well, that information is of little help for those looking to profit or hedge against the coming weather. It's hard to make reliable profits on what amounts to a coin flip. Here's My Fearless Forecast … From December 12 to 15, and again from December 21 to 24, the Northeast quadrant of the U.S. will be hit by storms carrying snowfall totals of 1 foot or more. What's more, the third week of January will bring a higher than normal risk for freezing rain from Arkansas through Missouri, driving up through Ohio and as far south as Georgia, before blasting the Northeast once again. In a typical winter, there are perhaps six ice storms covering these areas. But this year, I predict more than twice that number. Severe winter weather ahead of the holidays promises to keep shoppers home, raise home heating bills and generally disrupt commerce, especially in the Northeast, the most populated quadrant of the U.S. In my Weather Trader service, I'm looking at retail profit plays that already have a strong web presence, such as Target (NYSE: TGT), which make it easy for consumers to make purchases from the comfort of home. The chilly, damp December weather should help apparel sales, too. VF Corp. (NYSE: VFC), which owns the The North Face brand, and Columbia Sportswear Company (Nasdaq: COLM) are two solid candidates. I'm also looking at Chesapeake Energy (NYSE: CHK), which should react positively to rising natural-gas prices from increased demand. And keep an eye on Allstate Insurance (NYSE: ALL) and Traveler's Insurance (NYSE: TRV), as they both have considerable downside exposure to the Northeast.
