Genomes, data and community

Nature Publishing Group and the Japan Society of Human Genetics are collaborating to launch a new journal Human Genome Variation (ISSN: 2054-345X). The journal was born from a demand by the community for a place to publish important discoveries, observations and analysis about research on the human genome. Publishing on nature.com to the highest standards, Human Genome Variation will provide a fully peer-reviewed Open Access journal publishing the full suite of article types.

Editor-in-Chief, Professor Katsushi Tokunaga of Tokyo University said:

"We are delighted to launch Human Genome Variation with Nature Publishing Group, as a sister journal to the Journal of Human Genetics. The journal will serve the community of human genetics researchers, including clinical geneticists. It will provide a place to publish a new article type - Data Reports - standardized reports about genomic variation and variability, especially in relation to disease, as well as quality Articles and Reviews in various topics of human genetics studies. We are especially excited about the database being developed as part of the journal and accompanying Data Reports, collecting information about genomic variation and presented with different search options."
Led by Professor Tokunaga, a highly respected editorial board of researchers from across the globe will be working with Nature Publishing Group to publish the highest quality research and datasets. The journal's aim is to provide a much needed platform for human genome data and analysis and we invite you to be a part of its success. Submissions can be made at the journal website from March 2014.
