We want to know what you think! Take our quick survey.

Dear UCS supporter,

We want to know what YOU think!

Happy New Year! I'm excited to be kicking off 2014 with people like you standing up for science. As we plan our campaigns for this year, we want to know, what issues are most important to you?

Take our short, online survey today to tell us what YOU think are the best ways to challenge attacks on science and bring about change.

2014 is already off to an exciting start, thanks to the efforts of UCS supporters like you:

  • Wilmar, the world's largest palm oil producer and trader, recently announced its commitment to supplying palm oil that is deforestation-free. Tropical deforestation accounts for about 10 percent of global warming emissions in the world today. UCS served as an informal scientific adviser during a three-month process with Wilmar that resulted in their new policy.
  • We continued to defend clean energy standards across the United States, focusing our efforts on battleground states such as Ohio, where a controversial bill that would have gutted the state's current renewable energy and energy efficiency requirements stalled in committee. UCS and our network of experts played a leading role in countering misinformation, providing analysis demonstrating the success of Ohio’s clean energy policies, and exposing the fossil fuel- and utility-funded groups behind misleading attacks.
  • After receiving thousands of letters from UCS supporters, Congress finalized the annual military spending bill last month and decided against spending some $140 million to build an unnecessary, costly, unproven missile defense site in the eastern United States.
Together, we're working to debunk false information, promote the facts, and directly challenge media outlets, big polluters, and politicians who misrepresent science. Using a mix of policy analysis, media outreach, science, and grassroots mobilization, we will make important progress in 2014 for a healthy planet and a safer world—but we need to know what YOU think.

Click here to take our quick online survey by January 14. It'll only take a few minutes of your time and will provide vital feedback that will inform our work in the coming year.

Sincerely,
Kathleen Rest
