| Hello Architecture for Humanity supporter! | It is with great honor that we'll be presented with the 2014 SEED (Social Economic Environmental Design) Award for the Manica Football for Hope Center at the upcoming Structures for Inclusion conference on March 22-23, 2014 in New York City. We hope you can join us as Architecture for Humanity Program Manager, Darren Gill, discusses the Center's social and political impact on the community. Early bird tickets are still available.
The Football for Hope Movement, the official campaign of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, seeks to establish a quality seal for sustainable social and human development programs working with football as the central tool in the areas of health promotion, peace building, anti-discrimination, social integration, children’s rights, education, and the environment.
With the local community's involvement, Manica Football for Hope Center was designed to reflect the vernacular roots of the area, allowing for all-weather use, natural air ventilation, and was built with readily available local materials. The Center holds a football pitch, multi-purpose space, computer room, and classroom for health, wellness, and learning programs.
