Tomorrow marks the one year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing. I'm sure everyone in this area remembers that day (and the days that followed) quite vividly. WICN wants to acknowledge all those who were directly affected: victims, law enforcement, first responders, families and anyone who watched in horror and wondered how something like this could happen. In Chet Williamson's 40-plus-year career as a harmonica player, the instrument has taken him from the streets of the Great Brook Valley Housing Projects of Worcester, MA to memorable performances around the world. In 2010, Williamson was given a lifetime achievement award by Pulse Magazine, for "outstanding dedication to developing, promoting, and supporting the local music scene." This month, WICN honors Don Braden as our Artist of the Month! Don Braden is a world class Jazz musician of the highest caliber. Not just a tenor/soprano saxophonist, Braden is well versed playing flute, alto flute, piano and other instruments. During his time at Harvard University, he studied engineering and worked briefly with saxophone heavyweights Jerry Bergonzi and Bill Pierce. Since then he has gone on to play with the likes of Betty Carter, Wynton Marsalis, Freddie Hubbard and Roy Haynes. |
