| | | | | | | Verizon's 2014 Data Breach Investigations Report hit the wire, revealing that cybercriminals are winning by collaborating and constantly evolving their attack strategies. For the first time, the report included incidents that didn't result in breaches, and provided actionable guidance for specific industries. Perhaps one helpful tool in the future will be Quantum Key Distribution (QKD). This technology leverages quantum mechanics to guarantee encryption, and BT is already testing QKD over a live fiber network. Communications service providers (CSPs) continue to invest in customer experience management (CEM) in order to differentiate in saturated markets and reduce churn. Trending CEM news: Charter Communications recently broke ground on a 78,000-square-foot customer service facility that will house more than 800 support agents; Cable ONE picked TOA Technologies to help it overhaul its field operations; and across the globe, Huawei announced the industry's first Customer Experience Transformation Center. A quick peek at the latest earnings reports reveals that Telco TV is still chipping away at cable in the U.S. Both AT&T U-verse and Verizon FiOS added tens of thousands of pay-TV subs last quarter. AT&T also expanded its User Defined Cloud to include Amdocs and Juniper, and celebrated the one year anniversary for its Digital Life solutions, and entered into a $500 million to a joint venture charged with acquiring, investing in, and launching over-the-top (OTT) video services.
