Enterprise communications solutions are a major avenue for growth and revenue due to the fact that both internal and external communications are of vital importance to all businesses, no matter how large or small. However, numerous regulatory challenges along with a poor understanding of unified communications (UCC) and its benefits among the general population means that vendors have a hard time actually making the most out of their products, and actually delivering services to the capability that were advertised. Despite these hurdles, there are a wide variety of options for businesses to choose from, and a recent Frost & Sullivan study predicts that the future of enterprise communications will consist of softphones, tablets and UCC services.


Essentially, a softphone is simply a term to refer to any computing device with a program to transform it into a Voice over IP (VoIP) phone – after all, the word is simply a joining of the words software and phone. These tools are highly versatile, and can quickly be installed on a desktop, laptop or even tablet computer. Tablets are also predicted to make a significant rise over the next three years as part of communication services, as they are mobile and excellent platforms for a softphone. Read More
